About the project

What we have buildt in Örnsköldsvik (Köpmanholmen) is something unique. Here, Cinis Fertilizer manufactures a sustainable mineral fertilizer from, among other inputs, residual products from electric car battery manufacturing. We use traditional and proven process technology powered by fossil-free electricity. Our end product, potassium sulfate, will be an important contribution to the green transformation of agriculture.

Cinis Fertilizer’s future production plants are currently planned to be located in Kentucky (Hopkinsville) and Skellefteå, as well as additional production plants in the Nordic region. The production method that Cinis Fertilizer uses is known as the Glaserite process and has existed since the 1950s. This method of producing SOP is well tried and tested, and the technical risk associated with it is low.
