Örnsköldsvik
Köpmanholmen, Sweden
About the project
What we are going to build here in Köpmanholmen is something unique. Here, Cinis Fertilizer will manufacture a sustainable mineral fertilizer from residual products from electric car battery manufacturing and the pulp industry. We will use traditional and proven process technology powered by fossil-free electricity. Our end product, potassium sulfate, will be an important contribution to the green transformation of agriculture.
Cinis Fertilizer’s future production plants are planned to be located in Örnsköldsvik, Hopkinsville and Skellefteå, as well as additional production plants in the Nordic region. The production method that Cinis Fertilizer will use is known as the Glaserite process and has existed since the 1950s. This method of producing SOP is well tried and tested, and the technical risk associated with it is low.
What’s going on right now
Commissioning of the plant in Örnsködsvik is underway and the inputs sodium sulfate and potassium chloride are in the plant's storage.
